Direct Caregiver of the Year Nominees and Finalist

Seven Southwestern Pennsylvania Direct Care Workers were honored at a luncheon held on April 20, 2010, for their nominations for the 2010 Direct Care Worker of the Year, sponsored by the PA Department of Aging.

Each year every Area Agency on Aging throughout the state is asked to submit nominations for the Annual Direct Care Worker of the Year award.

The ladies were nominees to our Southwestern PA Area on Aging. They were nominated by coworkers, consumers and peers for excellence in the direct care that they provide to local consumers. Two of our nominees moved onto the state level and were finalist for the award. Caring Mission Home Care is proud that our own Ruby Warrell, was one of the two chosen. I recently sat down with Ruby Warrell and asked her about her position as a Care Specialist and being chosen as a State Finalist for the reward. Ruby responded, “I have been a care specialist with Caring Mission for many years. Although we should try not to get too attached because not all cases are long term but I have found that I leave a little bit of my heart in every home.” Ruby loves what she does and it shows.
